raaj ko gireh paikai; janamej raaj mahaan ||

Born in the house of a king, the great king Jammeja

sUrbIr hTI qpI ds cwr cwr inDwn ]

soorabeer hathee tapee; dhas chaar chaar nidhaan ||

Was a great hero, headstrong, ascetic and adept in eighteen learnings.

ipqr ky bD kop qy sb ibpR lIn bulwie ]

pitar ke badh kop te; sab bipr leen bulai ||

Being enraged at the death of his father, he called all the Brahmins

sarap medh kario lage makha; dharam ke chit chai ||165||

And engaged himself in the performance of the snake-sacrifice in the zest of his mind for Dharma.1.165.

ek kos pramaan lau; makh ku(n)dd keen banai ||

The sacrificial pit was constructed within one kos.

ma(n)tr sakat karanai lage tahi; hom bipr banai ||

After preparing the fire-altar, the Brahmins began to recite mantras methodically.

Awn Awn igrY lgy qih srp kot Apwr ]

aan aan girai lage tahi; sarap kot apaar ||

Millions and innumerable serpents came to fall there in the fire.

Here, there and everywhere resounded the strain of victory of the pious king.2.166.

hasat ek dh hasat teena; chau hasat pa(n)ch pramaan ||

The snakes measuring one arm’s length, two arms’ length, and there, four and five arms’ length

bIs hwQ iekIs hwQ pcIs hwQ smwn ]

bees haath ikees haatha; pachees haath samaan ||

Twenty arms’ length, twenty one arms length and twenty-five length

qIs hwQ bqIs hwQ CqIs hwQ igrwih ]

tees haath batees haatha; chhatees haath giraeh ||

Thirty arms’ length, thirty-two arms’ length and thirty-six arms’ length fell

aan aan girai tahaa; sabh bhasam bhoot hoi jaeh ||167||

And began to fall there all and reduced to ashes.3.167.

Those measuring one hindered arms’ length and two hundred arms’ length

Three hundred arms’ length and four hundred arms length

Five hundred and six hundred arms’ length began to fall there within the fire-pit

Even upto one thousand arms’ length and all innumerable ones were burnt and (thus reduced to ashes).4.168.
