bhat tayaag kai sab garab ||

All the warriors, forsaking their pride,

inRp qIr boly srb ]

nirap teer bole sarab ||

Came near the king and spoke,

inRp pUCIAY gur gÎwn ]

nirap poochheeaai gur gayaan ||

“O king! ask only the knowledge-Guru,

kh dyie qoih ibDwn ]146]

keh dhei toh bidhaan ||146||

He will only tell us all the method.”146.

bidh poor kai subh chaar ||

Ar gXwn rIq ibcwr ]

ar gayaan reet bichaar ||

The king reflected methodically and invoked knowledge and said,

ikm dyKIAY muin dyv ]147]

kim dhekheeaai mun dhev ||147||

“O chief Guru! tell me the mystery as to how the sage can be seen ?”147.

gur gayaan bolayo bain ||

suB bwc so suK dYn ]

subh baach so sukh dhain ||

Then the knowledge-Guru uttered these ambrosial words,

Curkw ibbyk lY hwQ ]

chhurakaa bibek lai haath ||

ieh PwrIAY iqh swQ ]148]

eeh faareeaai teh saath ||148||

”O king! Take the knife of Viveka (Discrimination) and tear off this fish.”148.

gur gayaan jiyo(n) sikh dheen ||

Then, whatever the Guru had instructed, it was done accordingly

teh cheeriaa teh saath ||149||

After adopting Viveka, that fish was ripped.149.

tab dhekhe jagarai ||

When the belly of the fish was ripped, then that great sage was seen

juq DÎwn mudRq nYn ]

jut dhayaan mudhrat nain ||

bin aas chit na ddulain ||150||

He was sitting there with closed eyes and concentration, detaching himself from all desires.150.

Then a sheet made of seven metals was put under the view of the sage

tab bhe bhasam pramaan ||151||

When the contemplation of the sage broke, the sheet was reduced to ashes by the sight of the sage.151.

souoo jeeat jaan na paauoo ||

If anything else had come within his sight (at that time),

so Bsm hovq jwn ]

so bhasam hovat jaan ||

bin preet bhagati; na maan ||152||

It could not have been saved from being reduced to ashes there can be no devotion without true love.152.

When that sheet was reduced to ashes like the destruction of the darkness by the sun,

Then the king went to that sage and told him the secret of his coming.153.
