jal vichi kavalu alipatu hai sang dokh niradokh rahandaa.

The lotus residing in water remains unsmeared by it.

raatee bhavaru loubhaaidaa seetalu hoi sougandhi miladaa.

In the night it attracts the black bee which gets coolness and fragrance from lotus.

bhalakay sooraj dhiaanu dhari paraphulatu hoi milai hasandaa.

In the morning it again meets the sun and being glad smiles the whole day.

guramoukh soukh phul sahaji ghari varatamaan andari varatandaa.

Gurmukhs (like lotus) reside in the innate house of pleasure fruit and utilise the present time fully i.e. they don't sit idle.

lokaachaaree lok vichi vayd veechaaree karam karandaa.

To the ordinary people busy in mundane affairs they look engrossed in the world, and, to the people pondering over Vedas they look engaged in rituals.

swvDwnu gur igAwn ivic jIvin mukiq jugiq ivcrMdw ]

saavadhaanu guragiaan vichi jeevani moukati jougati vicharandaa.

But these gurmukhs, as a result of attaining knowledge from the Guru, keep consciousness in their possession and move in the world as liberated ones.

In the congregation of the holy person resides the Guru-word.
